We invite abstracts for posters for the 2022 UFERN Virtual Network Meeting. This poster session is an opportunity to meet people, spark ideas and collaborations, address challenges, and gain a sense of the richness of the current work to improve undergraduate field education.
UFERN is interdisciplinary – including members who identify as social scientists/STEM education researchers and faculty/instructors/program directors teaching field courses and leading field-based undergraduate research experiences. Thus, we invite posters describing evidence-based teaching and program approaches and resources for undergraduate field education (program-focused) as well as posters describing research related to student-centered undergraduate field education (research-focused). Abstracts can be submitted on work that is at any stage of development (e.g., an idea on which you would like feedback or collaboration up to final products) but must be presented by the author.
We request that participants plan to put together brief, easy to understand posters that include a question to spark discourse.
We are especially interested in posters addressing the following strands:
- Strategies for affective learning
- Evidence-based models and practices that engage a diverse range of undergraduates
- Lessons learned from teaching during Covid-19
- Using the UFERN Model for research, design, implementation, and/or assessment of undergraduate field experiences
- Interdisciplinary collaborations
Submission deadline is November 29, 2021, at 5 pm pacific time. Following the deadline, we will notify you about whether your abstract is accepted by December 8th, 2021. The UFERN Meeting will be on January 27th and 28th, 2022. Posters will be available to browse at any time during and after the meeting. Depending how many poster abstracts we receive, poster sessions could be either day of the meeting.
