Dr. Stephanie Shaulskiy is a Program Evaluation Coordinator for the Transforming Learning Program at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS). Since 2017, she has been in charge of assessment of courses and student experiences at UMBS. She uses a multiple methods approach including survey research and focus groups to examine student motivation, class belonging, student perceptions about science, and future career aspirations of students at the UMBS and in traditional classes. Her research focuses on motivation and belonging for college students, particularly among students from underrepresented groups.

Alicia Farmer is a Program Manager for the Transforming Learning Program at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS). Alicia has been at the Biological station since 2008. The Transforming Learning Program is a 5-year, grant-funded effort to bring new students and disciplines to the Biological Station. Alicia’s interests are in institutional equity and recruitment/retention of underrepresented minorities and women in higher education and STEM fields. She has a J.D. from the University of Michigan.
