Dr. Dave Mogk works for Montana State University within the Department of Earth Sciences as a Professor of Geology. Dr. Mogk will present “Entering the Community of Practice: Learning (Acceptable) Behaviors in the Field”.
Undergraduate field experiences can be seen as the gateway to the technical and social behaviors and skills needed to successfully work in a field environment. These pre-professional courses and experiences also have a duty to uphold safety and create an inclusive culture. This webinar will explore how embodiment, effective pedagogy and mentorship can prepare the future field-based science workforce using the geosciences as a lens and focus. Dr. Mogk will present resources available at the Science Education Resource Center website that are useful for exploring this focus.
