Episode 8 of our speaker series features Dr. Erik DutillyIn his talk “Student Recruitment and Selection into STEM Undergraduate Research Programs,” Erik presents on how should we select people for valuable and scarce STEM training opportunities. His presentation will be comprised of three parts: a philosophical inquiry into selection fairness, student recruitment practices from the NSF’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program, and discourse analysis of student selection meetings taken from an NSF-funded federal laboratory.

Erik graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder’s School of Education with a PhD in Education research. He is the founder and president of the Western Institute for Education Evaluation and Consulting (link). His professional interests include undergraduate research and internship programs, program evaluation, moral reasoning, distributive justice, psychological measurement, learning theory, and adolescent development.
